| Welcome in Montastruc. Quite ready for the dream, in this place charged of history. The village of Montastruc was built on the site of a castle. It remains just few things: on South, pits, in the village, two wells. In the ground we find underground passages and dug in the tuff, the grain and salty meats silos. During the crusade against Albigeois, Amaury de Monfort settles a garrison in the castle of Montastruc. The One hundred years war, then the religious wars will also devastate the village. However, the stones of the castle were used for the construction of the current rustic church, and we can still admire, 1 km from Montastruc, the beautiful Romance church of St Pierre de la Croix, surrounded of a peaceful cemetery. Do you want to know some more about the history of Montastruc? We invite you to participate in the foreseen circuit every Friday from July 11th till August 22nd and whiwh allows to appreciate on 360 degrees the surrounding panorama. |
