| Small village of the Lot-et-Garonne (159 inhabitants in the last inventory of 1999), LABRETONIE owes its name, according to the oral tradition, to Bretons' colony which, having participated in the construction of the castle of Bonaguil, would have settled down on this territory, giving it a name reminding their county. In a region of hillsides, with a pleasant climate and a serene beauty, this municipality allows the walker to discover kindlings and forests of varied species. Through the seasons the landscape offers to the glance a whole palette of colours : the red of the autumn, the green of the prairies, the gold of the grains, the white of the flowers of orchards. Birds, roe deers and squirrels share this peaceful territory. In the heart of the village, not far from the village hall, the parochial church built in 1870, with the decorated hall. A little farther, under its hundred-years-old oaks, is Saint Jean church, quite proud in spite of its V centuries and its small size. Municipality situated near important centres (15 - 20 mn): Marmande, Tonneins, Miramont de Guyenne, Castelmoron sur Lot. Summer and local populations can enjoy fishing in river or hunting. During the tourist season, a visit to the cooperative of prunes, nut and hazelnuts is imperative, and what about a short stay in guest houses: the frame is there ideal, and the swimming pool welcoming. |
